Schwab Technology Services enables the future of how clients manage their money by providing innovative and reliable technology products and services as part of our ongoing commitment to democratize access to investing and financial planning.

The Client Authentication Product Director - Core Capabilities will support hundreds of millions of logins per month across Schwab, and shape the strategy, roadmap, and execution for enterprise authentication capabilities that protect how clients access and engage with Schwab across digital, phone, branch, and third-party channels. This leader will guide a team of product managers and product owners focused on client onboarding, credentialing, authenticator registration and management, access recovery, and secure client experiences.

Working closely with the Client Authentication Customer Success and Delivery teams, Product Research, and the broader Schwab Authentication and Fraud Ecosystem, this role is central to advancing a scalable, modern identity experience while helping protect clients and the firm from fraud.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead a distributed product team responsible for developing and delivering enterprise Client Authentication capabilities that support secure, consistent client access.

  • Own and communicate the roadmap for core authentication capabilities, aligning priorities across Client Authentication and the broader SAFE portfolio.

  • Set product direction for authentication and authorization across client touchpoints, balancing secure, scalable experiences with regulatory expectations and industry standards.

  • Bring thought leadership to customer identity and access management trends, including phishing-resistant authentication, biometrics, digital identity, decentralized identity, continuous authentication, and risk-based evaluation.

  • Translate complex technical topics into clear product strategy, business outcomes, and decision recommendations for senior stakeholders.

  • Coach and develop product managers and product owners while building a high-performing team that delivers measurable business value at scale.

  • Partner across product, technology, risk, fraud, engineering, procurement, and business teams to evaluate, prioritize, and execute transformation initiatives in the digital identity space.

  • Use data and analytics to monitor product performance, assess risk, measure outcomes, and continuously improve the client identity lifecycle.

  • Influence technology investments, vendor partnerships, and build-versus-buy decisions that support a secure, modern authentication ecosystem.

What you have

Required Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of work experience, including at least 7 years leading product teams responsible for identity and access management, authentication, authorization, or related digital identity capabilities.

  • Extensive experience with customer identity and access management concepts, capabilities, and technologies.

  • Experience building or leading teams that have developed authentication, authorization, CIAM, or digital identity capabilities rather than only implementing third-party tools.

  • Experience leading cross-enterprise initiatives that require alignment across business, technology, risk, fraud, and operational stakeholders.

  • Direct people leadership experience, including building, coaching, and leading high-performing product teams at a director level.

  • Experience working with senior leadership, including the ability to communicate with executive presence, tailor messaging to the audience, and simplify complex technical topics into clear business recommendations.

  • Ability to build trusted relationships, maintain a broad internal network, and connect priorities across multiple teams to drive distributed work.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple short- and long-term priorities, deliverables, and dependencies across teams.

  • Experience using data and analytics to inform product decisions, evaluate risk, measure outcomes, and improve product performance.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Financial services, fintech, or other highly regulated industry experience.

  • Experience leading leaders and developing management capability across teams.

In addition to the salary range, this role is also eligible for bonus or incentive opportunities.
