This position is a part-time, 3-day, 10-hour per day, work week position in the Weekend Shift with the following shift options:





+ Friday/Saturday/Sunday: 7:30am - 5:30pm-or-



+ Saturday/Sunday/Monday: 7:30am - 5:30pm









The Press Operator in Lawrence sets up and operates belt fold machines, page insert machines, double overlay machines, etc. that fold paper, light weight packets, and board stock in multiple ways. May apply glue to stock during operation. The machinery is of varying vintages, manufacturers, and types with multiple variables impacting press performance. Applies acetate, vinyl overlay (materials sensitive to temperature, pressure, ink, etc.) or insert pages to greeting cards. Performs make-ready duties and prepares press or multiple presses, and types of presses to run a variety of folds, some with severe die cut design. Maintains and operates glue systems. Incumbent may also diagnose and perform machinery maintenance repairs and preventive maintenance functions while assisting operators. Responsible for specified production, quality checks, and TPM’s. Positively participates in performance dialogues and other team problem-solving activities.



Identifies potential problems and shows willingness to proactively work on problem resolution and alternative solutions to traditional methods of operation. Flexibility is key as the incumbent will be expected to learn and perform multiple assignments within this job classification.







In this position you will:





+ Perform make-ready duties on multiple press types with varying controls and production factors (speed, temperature, pressure, etc.).



+ Read layout, tickets and have an understanding of downstream processes.



+ Diagnose and perform machinery maintenance repairs and preventive maintenance functions.



+ Execute the Quality System including preflights, sampling plan and the removal of salvage/spoilage.



+ Prepare related paperwork/documentation for shipping accuracy, including completing production data and spoilage.



+ Demonstrate the flexibility and teamwork to positively influence how goals are accomplished within the shorter periods of time.



+ Utilize good safety practices.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS





+ Ability to frequently transfer stock weighing 20 pounds and occasionally lift up to 50 pounds. May lift 70 pounds with assistance.



+ Ability to stand and/or walk approximately 95% of the time



+ Ability to frequently reach, twist, bend, and perform repetitive hand/wrist motion and fine motor skills



+ Ability to occasionally work at or above shoulder level









PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS





+ Good math, written and oral communication skills, and basic computer skills



+ High School Diploma, GED or equivalent



+ Ability to understand the computer and ordering systems and successfully operate both systems



+ Ability to organize and set-up work area and re-organize as priorities change. Ability to work under pressure



+ Ability to understand and follow established safety procedures



+ Ability to accept other duties as assigned



+ Ability to learn and retain knowledge



+ Ability to work in a team environment and be able to contribute positively during problem solving sessions









ADDITIONAL DETAILS





+ Work overtime as required during peak seasons.



+ This is a climate-controlled manufacturing environment with normal physical injury hazard.



+ There is some noise and hearing protection is required by Hallmark.



+ This position is located in Lawrence, Kansas. Relocation is not provided.
