AngelList built banking infrastructure that already powers $171B+ in assets. Now it’s scaling that infrastructure into a new suite of banking, payments, investment, and credit products for funds, GPs, and the LPs who back them.</p> <p>You’ll structure new offerings with product, engineering, and compliance; define the regulatory perimeter across bank partnerships, credit, and securities; negotiate with sponsor banks and vendors; and write the terms and disclosures. You’ll partner directly with the general manager and executive team, and your judgment will shape what we ship.</p> </p> <p> <strong>Responsibilities:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Own the legal design of each new product for banking, payments, investment and credit.</li> <li>Negotiate with the sponsor banks, payment processors, card networks, and lenders.</li> <li>Draft terms, disclosures, and product agreements</li> <li>Partner with Compliance to build and maintain controls, guardrails and support models for new products.</li> <li>Give the general manager and executives clear recommendations and alternatives on risks and tradeoffs.</li> <li>Serve as the escalation point for regulators, bank partners, and outside counsel.</li> </ul> <p> <strong>What we’re looking for:</strong></p> <ul> <li>10+ years of legal experience, with meaningful time as the lead on financial products: GC, deputy GC, or head of product legal at a fintech.</li> <li>Deep fluency in bank partnership programs, payments, money transmission, and lending regulation.</li> <li>Working knowledge of securities law as it applies to investment products (Advisers Act, broker-dealer regulation, or fund structures).</li> <li>A builder’s track record: you’ve taken regulated financial products from zero to launch, and you like operating as the only lawyer in the room.</li> <li>Pragmatic judgment: you quickly translate regulatory ambiguity into clear product decisions and defensible risk calls.</li> <li>Crisp, concise communication with engineers, product managers, bank partners, and regulators alike.</li> </ul> <div> <strong>Working Here</strong> </p> <p>If you don’t meet every requirement above, we still encourage you to apply. The base salary for this role is $300K+ annually but actual will vary based on a number of factors including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location.
