They demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent listening skills, and a solid command of English grammar, vocabulary, and punctuation. With a general knowledge of Deaf Culture, the candidate adapts to a wide range of access needs and remains flexible when course modalities shift between in‑person and remote formats.</p> <p>The ideal candidate stays current with evolving technical terminology and software and exercises sound judgment when accepting assignments based on skill level, topic familiarity, setting, and consumer needs. While primarily supporting registered BMAC students, they are also prepared to provide captioning services to faculty, staff, and university guests when appropriate. They work effectively with consumers, communicate professionally and diplomatically with colleagues and staff, and adhere to industry‑recognized codes of ethics, professional standards of practice, and confidentiality requirements.</p> <p>Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community. Ability to follow all university policies, procedures, and guidelines including but not limited to safety, civility, information security, and non-discrimination policies and procedures.
