We were founded in 1996 by a family seeking a cure for their daughter’s pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH). Today, we have six FDA-approved therapies that treat PAH, pulmonary hypertension associated with interstitial lung disease (PH-ILD) and neuroblastoma, a rare pediatric cancer. Our near-term pipeline seeks to develop additional therapies for PAH and pulmonary fibrosis (PF).

The cure for end-stage life-threatening diseases like PAH, PH-ILD, PF, and many others is an organ transplant, but only a small percentage of donated organs are available to address the vast need. For this reason, we are working to create manufactured organs to address the shortage of kidneys, hearts, lungs, and livers available for transplant. We believe an unlimited supply of tolerable, transplantable organs will eliminate the transplant waiting list and cure end-stage organ diseases for which transplant is not currently an option.

Who You Are

The Senior Data Systems Analyst will collaborate with the Distribution Analytics team to ensure proper functionality of current data applications and programs. This position will play a critical role in supporting data automation, data mining, and cleansing. The role entails the enhancement and maintenance of automated programs and systems that aid in statistical analysis and forecasting. Distribution Analytics supports a range of teams, including Executive, Trade, Managed Markets, Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Finance, and Government Price Reporting. This role will also provide expertise in reporting systems, including the Microsoft suite and Fabric tools such as Power BI.

  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for areas of improvement in data automation and data systems
  • Serve as the backbone of the data ecosystem, designing and maintaining the connections between SQL databases, Microsoft Fabric, Power BI, and Dataflow pipelines
  • Own end-to-end data integration across systems, ensuring consistent, reliable, and performant data flow across the organization
  • Develop new Excel insights and Power BI analytics leveraging existing and new dataflows, notebooks, and lakehouses
  • Identify and support process improvements, including creation of standard and ad-hoc reports and tools using Excel and other dashboards
  • Support data mining, cleansing, and data quality for Executive, Trade, Finance, IT, Managed Markets, and Government Price Reporting projects
  • Perform reconciliation and management of commercial inventory transactions in compliance with related contracted terms, including DOH monitoring and inventory management
  • Build and manage Power BI semantic models, ensuring datasets are clean, governed, and ready for self-service analytics
  • Support inventory, specialty pharmacy, and sales-related data within Fabric and/or Databricks
  • Support development and use of automation tools for monitoring data quality
  • Serve as point of contact to IT for the team

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related discipline
  • 5+ years of relevant data analysis and/or data engineering experience
  • 3+ years of experience with managing and interpreting large amounts of data and the ability to explain the outcomes of the information including data systems development, data mining, and data cleansing
  • 3+ years of proficient experience with Excel, Power BI, and other analytical/reporting platforms
  • 1+ year of project management experience
  • Strong proficiency in SQL, including complex joins, window functions, stored procedures, and query optimization
  • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric, including Lakehouses, Pipelines, and Dataflows Gen2
  • Demonstrated ability to build enterprise-grade Power BI reports and semantic models (DirectQuery, composite models)
  • General knowledge of statistical modeling and forecasting
  • Deep understanding of data warehouse concepts — star schemas, slowly changing dimensions, incremental refresh
  • Experience connecting disparate systems and thinking holistically about data flow and dependencies
  • Strong written and verbal skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the Power Query M language for advanced transformation logic
  • Experience with medallion architecture (Bronze / Silver / Gold) within Fabric or a similar platform
  • Exposure to CI/CD practices for data pipelines and version-controlled development

Location

United Therapeutics has the flexibility to hire this role remotely within the United States with strong preference to candidates local to RTP, NC and those who reside in EST or CST.

The salary range for this position is $101,000 - $132,000 and reflects our good-faith estimate of the compensation for this role at the time of posting. An employee’s position within the salary range will be based on factors such as education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and business needs, as well as other factors permitted by law at the time of posting. This range may be modified in the future based on company and market factors.
