<strong>Job Description<br><br></strong>We are looking for an exceptional person to add to our Geotechnical Team in our Bengaluru / Noida, India office. You will have at least 10 to 12 years’ experience in the design of foundations, slope stability, embedded retaining walls, settlement analysis for various infrastructure projects, especially metro projects.<br><br>The successful candidate will play a key role in the day-to-day delivery of projects working closely with and being supported by other team members, Project Managers and Directors within the Sweden team. As a specialist/expert within the UK&IE based Geotech Team working predominantly on a range of variety of geotechnical projects across Sweden.<br><br>At WSP, you’ll find yourself challenged in fascinating and far-reaching ways. You’ll explore new and inspiring opportunities to make the most of your expertise, broaden your professional horizons and create exciting new possibilities for people, organisations and society in general.<br><br><strong>Responsibilities<br><br></strong><ul><li> Development of professionally and technically competent reports by making use of efficient working practices to provide industry leading, best value services to our clients.</li><li> Provide support in all aspects of project delivery including financial analysis, client liaison, public and statutory body consultation, quality control, management of specialists, contractors and sub consultants.</li><li> Coordinate and manage multidisciplinary teams working on geotechnical projects, work closely with and provide professional advice that builds relationships and raises the profile of the geotechnical division</li><li> Effectively manage and deliver project work with robust project financial management. Has budget responsibility for the delivery of projects and services.</li><li> Provide support in all aspects of project delivery meeting high technical standards, required quality and within allotted budget.</li><li> Working in accordance with accepted methods and legislation and operate in accordance with WSP’s corporate health & safety, environment, and quality (SHEQ) standards. Taking ownership for aspects of SHEQ management across the geotechnical team.</li><li> Undertake own continuing professional development and showing management of others across a team, to maintain and build professional capability.<br><br><br></li></ul>Key Competencies<br><br>Mandatory Skills<br><br><ul><li> A sound understanding of geotechnical engineering, with a broad understanding of the underlying principles, and substantial project management experience of medium sized projects.</li><li> Will have proven previous metro projects experience including undertaking under ground elements design, ground movement assessment, embedded retaining systems design, Diaphragm wall designs etc</li><li> Will have proven previous experience of undertaking: geotechnical desk studies; critical checking of Ground Investigation Factual Reports; preparing Ground Investigation Reports in accordance with the requirements of Eurocode 7 : Part 1.</li><li> Will have contributed to the production of some Geotechnical Design Reports.</li><li> Demonstrable experience of geotechnical design together with a familiarity of design submission documentation. This includes a demonstrable understanding of the underlying principles and a knowledge of Eurocode & design codes, ground investigation and construction contracts and specifications.</li><li> Ability to use a range of geotechnical software for the design of civil engineering projects including the following: deep and shallow foundations (including pile group analysis); embedded and gravity retaining walls; earthworks/slope stability; reinforced earthworks.</li><li> Proficiency with the use of geotechnical software for the management, review and presentation of ground investigation and geotechnical data using current best practice. Must have the skills to check, critically evaluate and amend your own work, be it drawings, calculations or reports.</li><li> General commercial awareness and an understanding of client requirements as described in contracts, including an understanding and awareness of contractual issues and risks when dealing with clients and sub-consultants.</li><li> Provides active contribution to technical excellence and innovation across the local geotechnical team.</li><li> Excellent report-writing and strong client liaison skills. Will have significant previous experience of undertaking and managing geotechnical desk studies; designing, procuring & supervising Ground Investigations (GIs); checking and reviewing Ground Investigation Reports & Geotechnical Design Reports in accordance with the requirements of Eurocode 7 : Part 1. Client facing and able to lead at client/contractor meetings.</li><li> Good oral communication skills also, able to provide solid support at client facing meetings and able to assist with client/contractor meetings.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Desired Skills<br><br></strong><ul><li> Hands on experience in using the geotechnical software like GEOSTUDIO, Repute 2.5, WALLAP, Settle 3D, Slide 2, Plaxis 2D, Plaxis 3D, Geo-slope PDisp, AutoCAD, ArcGIS or QGIS.</li><li> Knowledge in the Engineering Geology or equivalent demonstrable experience.</li><li> Chartered Engineer from a reputed professional body membership (preferably ICE, UK) or working towards chartered engineer.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> Master’s degree in Geotechnical Engineering / Soil Mechanics, Geo-Science related field and Foundation engineering as specialisation,</li><li> 10+ years of experience working in the Geotechnical field;</li><li> Working towards full professional membership / chartership.<br><br><br></li></ul>BGV:<br><br><ul><li>Employment with WSP India is subject to the successful completion of a background verification (“BGV”) check conducted by a third-party agency appointed by WSP India.</li><li>Candidates are advised to ensure that all information provided during the recruitment process — including documents uploaded — is accurate and complete, both to WSP India and its BGV partner”.<br><br><br></li></ul><strong>About Us<br><br></strong>WSP is one of the world's leading professional services consulting firms.
