The Opportunity

This position works out of our Pleasanton, CA location in the Heart Failure Division. In Abbott’s Heart Failure (HF) business, we’re developing solutions to diagnose, monitor and manage heart failure, allowing people to restore their health and get on with their lives.

The main responsibility of the MES Engineer II Manufacturing is to support the use of the MES system in the manufacturing environment. This position oversees manufacturing engineering related tasks and projects in and working with the assigned site resources to carry out tasks and ensures that they are delivered on time. This person will be trained on and then will be responsible for having an in-depth understanding of MES in the manufacturing engineering space, as well as overall MES processes. This role includes change management, troubleshooting and continuous improvement activities, ensuring the site delivers safe and effective products that meet customer needs whilst maintaining compliance. The MES Engineer II Manufacturing will provide subject matter expertise to the operations team for day-to-day production and project work to ensure that output targets are met in line with the production plan.

What You’ll Work On

  • Provide SME knowledge to the operations team with respect to the MES system
  • Lead and execute New MES integrations, collaborating with site resources and crossfunctional teams to support successful project outcomes
  • Partner with Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, IT and Quality functions to ensure efficient and effective MES site support during operational hours
  • Work with the operations teams to deliver on department goals, schedules, and timetables for activities.
  • Ensuring conformance with all relevant Policies and Procedures. Contributing to the creation of Work Instructions and Procedures to maintain compliance.
  • Coach and mentor the operations team on the use of the MES system, upskilling operations staff on the basics of troubleshooting. Provide onboarding and training support to new Manufacturing Engineering team members involved in MES activities.
  • Coordinate regularly with the Abbott global MES team, provide updates, align on system changes, and supporting large-scale configuration initiatives
  • Support global enhancement initiatives, including requirements gathering, impact assessments, prioritization discussions, and user acceptance testing (UAT)
  • Report progress, risks, and issues in a clear and timely manner, escalating concerns as needed to maintain project momentum
  • Troubleshoot and develop resolutions for unexpected IDOC and related system interface errors, working with IT and system owners when necessary
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and performing other duties as assigned by management.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical, Industrial, chemical, Biomedical or related Engineering area or an equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of three years of experience
  • Ability to work in a highly matrixed and geographically diverse business environment
  • Ability to work within a team and as an individual contributor in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Strong verbal and written communications with ability to effectively communicate at multiple levels in the organization
  • Ability to leverage and/or engage others to accomplish projects. Multitasks, prioritizes and meets deadlines in timely manner.
  • Strong organizational and follow-up skills, as well as attention to detail
  • Ability to travel approximately 15%, including internationally

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous medical device and MES experience preferred
  • Experience working in a broader enterprise/cross-division business unit model preferred

The base pay for this position is $81,500.00 – $141,300.00. In specific locations, the pay range may vary from the range posted.
