<p id="isPasted" style="text-align: center;"><strong><u>THE DEPARTMENT AND POSITION </u></strong></p>The City of El Cerrito Recreation Department is renowned for running high-quality, fun & safe programs for children – winning many “Best of the Bay” awards based on the high satisfaction of parents and children. The “Department of F.U.N.” manages a full range of recreational and special activities for youth, adults and seniors, and provides activities, rentals of facilities, picnic areas, sports fields and tennis courts.  <br><br>The <strong>part-time / seasonal</strong>, Recreation Program Leader II  (Gymnastics Assistant Coach) is an entry level position which assists the Gymnastics Coach with the planning, organization and coordination of recreational gymnastics classes and camps. The work schedule for this position is 5-25 hours per week, Monday-Friday.  Hours vary depending on season.  <br><br>Recreation Leader II is the journey-level classification in the Leader series responsible for independently delivering a variety of lessons/classes within a specific sport, recreation, and/or leisure program area, including instructing groups of varying ages in structured activities. Positions at this level exercise judgment and initiative in their assigned tasks, receive only occasional instruction or assistance as new or unusual situations arise and are fully aware of the operating procedures and policies of the work unit.<br id="isPasted"><br><p id="isPasted"><strong><u>Typical Duties Include: </u></strong></p><ul type="disc" style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li>Help execute the lesson and skill development plans while providing input into enhancing workouts.</li><li>Interact with recreation staff and participants and possibly provide customer information.</li><li>Assist with variety of program and activity support such as getting supplies and equipment, setting up certain equipment, directing participants during events, and overseeing cleanup of facility.</li><li>Perform related duties and responsibilities as required</li></ul><p id="isPasted"><strong><u>Experience and Education Requirements:</u></strong>   </p><p><u>Experience:</u>  </p><p><em><u>Recreation Leader II:</u></em> One (1) year of experience providing direct instruction/training/coaching to participants in a sport, recreation, enrichment and/or leisure program related to the assigned area of responsibility (Gymnastics).</p><p><u>Education</u>:  Equivalent to completion of the twelfth (12th) grade. Must be at least age 18+.<br> <br><strong><u>Knowledge, Skills and Abilities</u>: </strong></p><ul type="disc" style="margin-bottom: 3pt;"><li>Variety of recreation activities, including a background in gymnastics.</li><li>Knowledge/abilities related to gymnastics, including ability to spot children.</li><li>Conduct and participate in recreation activities.</li><li>Assist with related clerical duties.</li><li>Demonstrate good customer service and staff relations.</li><li>Maintain physical and mental capacities appropriate to the performance of assigned duties and responsibilities</li></ul><strong id="isPasted">Salary dependent on experience -</strong><br><strong>Recreation Leader II - $22.11 - $26.88 </strong>
