Early Career Welding Engineer

<strong>Job Description<br><br></strong><strong>This Opportunity<br><br></strong>WSP is currently seeking an <strong>Early Career Welding Engineer </strong>to join our team in <strong>Jacksonville, FL</strong>. This is a technical field and office position that requires travel to various locations within the US. AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification is preferred. The ideal candidate will be available for immediate employment. The candidate must be capable of rigorous physical activity.<br><br><strong>Your Impact<br><br></strong><ul><li> Inspection of welding, steel fabrication, coatings, expansion joints, bridge bearings, sign structures, bridge beams, drainage structures, and other structural components </li><li> Monitoring fabrication / work for compliance with approved shop drawings, standards, and specifications </li><li> Communication and interaction with owners, fabricators, engineers, and other CWIs and NDT technicians </li><li> Writing daily shop / field reports in digital format </li><li> Participate in WSP safety meetings <br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Who You Are<br><br></strong><strong>Required Qualifications<br><br></strong><ul><li> BS degree in welding engineering or materials engineeringor metallurgical engineering or equivalent </li><li> 0-1 year relevant experience </li><li> AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) Certification preferred </li><li> Experience performing QA/QC during structural steel fabrication preferred </li><li> Dependability, honesty, and integrity </li><li> Computer Skills: Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications </li><li> Strong verbal and written communication skills </li><li> Must be able to work well independently and with others </li><li> Decision making skills </li><li> Self-starter </li><li> Must be willing to travel as needed, including overnight stays when out of town </li><li> Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver License </li><li> Sufficient physical stamina to work long hours indoors and outdoors under various field conditions and exposure to traffic, extreme heat, cold, rainfall, and snow </li><li> Climbing, bending, crawling, and working in confined spaces and on uneven terrain </li><li> Ability to lift 25+ lbs. </li><li> Must pass a physical and background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy <br><br><br></li></ul><strong>Preferred Qualifications:<br><br></strong><ul><li> AWS Certified Welding Inspector Certification </li><li> NACE / AMPP or SSPC Coatings Certification <br><br><br></li></ul><strong>About WSP<br><br></strong><strong> ABOUT US <br><br></strong>WSP USA is the U.S. operating company of WSP, one of the world's leading engineering and professional services firms.
