THE OPPORTUNITY

Dillard\'s is looking for an experienced Front End Developer who is highly motivated and technical and enjoys collaborating in a team environment. As our ideal candidate, you will be well-versed in React and able to solve complex user experience problems for Dillard\'s e-commerce website. You will also be able to easily step into an agile environment that includes working closely with Business Analysts, QAs, and other developers supporting projects. Soon, the site will be replacing React with Next JS.

THE TEAM

In this role, you will work with a large team of developers responsible for all the code development and quality assurance for the www.dillards.com website. This team also supports a few other in-house applications that business teams use to manage the content and products on the website.



WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Develop and maintain applications primarily in React, JavaScript, and CSS.
  • Collaborate with other team members as well as members of other business teams to ensure we deliver the best possible product.
  • Research problems, make accurate code changes promptly, test all changes, and then follow up to ensure the desired results are achieved.
  • Learn the business environment and collaborate with internal and external teams.

THE \"MUST-HAVES\"

  • At least two years of experience as a Front End Developer Experience with React 14 or higher
  • Experience creating React class components and using React lifecycle hooks
  • Experience creating React functional components using React Hooks
  • Advanced skills in JavaScript as well as CSS 3 or higher, HTML5, and Bootstrap
  • Extremely detail-oriented
  • Strong work ethic with the personality and drive to handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Adaptable to changing needs and priorities



THE \"NICE-TO-HAVES\"

  • Hands-on experience with Node.js and npm.
  • Hands-on experience with Webpack Experience using Figma, Adobe XD, Photoshop, and Illustrator
  • Next JS App router experience.



WITHIN 30 DAYS, YOU\'LL

  • Understand the basic flow of our site–from product pages to checkout, My Account features, and functionality, etc.
  • Understand our agile process–card assignment, self-testing, QA testing, and transitioning cards in Jira.
  • Understand GitHub Desktop and GitLab–creating branches, committing and pushing, and merging changes.
  • Understand the basics of our code base and how front-end development is tied to commerce.



WITHIN 60 DAYS, YOU\'LL

  • Understand how A/B testing with Optimizely works and complete a Optimizely test.
  • Understand the Management Center\'s functionality and its role on our site.
  • Understand the deployment process and its role in development and production.
  • Have some understanding of our front-end best practices - always keeping in mind core-web-vitals, accessibility, SEO, etc.
  • Understand how to debug and test using Dev tools and test devices effectively.



WITHIN 90 DAYS, YOU\'LL

  • Understand the basic business rules related to selecting and purchasing items online.
  • Understand the basics of log-on state, cookies, storage, and how those things relate to the user site experience.
  • Have begun to work independently–finish work on time, test your work thoroughly, and be able to debug and correct defects.
  • Start attempting to complete medium-difficulty assignments on your own.
